How to use it
- Paste or type up to 20 KB of text.
- Choose a language or use auto detect.
- Read the data notice, check the consent box and press Check grammar and style.
- Review each suggestion and apply only the corrections you want.
Limitations
- Text is sent to the LanguageTool public proofreading API after you consent and press the check button. LanguageTool handles the request under its own privacy terms.
- The free public API has per-request and per-IP limits and no availability guarantee. It may change or reject requests.
- Suggestions can be incorrect or miss issues. Review every change; this is not a substitute for careful proofreading.
- The tool does not provide Grammarly’s browser-wide writing assistant, plagiarism checks, or premium rewriting features.
Frequently asked questions
Does the checker use an AI model?
It uses LanguageTool’s proofreading service to identify possible spelling, grammar and style issues. It does not use ToolNest’s AI prompt builders.
Is my text uploaded?
Yes, only when you tick the consent box and press Check. The browser sends it directly to LanguageTool. LanguageTool says its API does not store submitted text; read its policy before sending sensitive content.
Can I use it without sending text to a service?
No. Checking requires sending the text to LanguageTool. You can leave the consent box unchecked and use ToolNest’s other local tools.
Does it correct every issue automatically?
No. It displays suggestions and lets you apply them one at a time. Review every change.
